2-DAY YOGA WORKSHOP: From Sole to Soul: Feet, Legs, and Standing Pose - February 15th to 16th 2025

WhatsApp Image 2025-02-05 at 1.27.48 PM.jpeg

February 15-16 | Saturday & Sunday | 8 AM – 3 PM
📍 169 Fordyce Road, Walmer, Port Elizabeth

Join us for a powerful two-day immersion designed to build a strong and stable foundation in yoga practice and teaching. The focus : Feet, legs, and standing poses—the roots of a balanced, aligned, and empowered practice.
For this workshop, we are going to allow the energy in the Sushumna to flow effortlessly, like a river to the ocean. We'll achieve this in two ways: first, by bringing up energy from the earth through the feet and legs, and secondly, by allowing cosmic energy to enter into the body through our intention, aspiration, and affirmation.
The physical aspects will be facilitated by awakening the feet and legs to become tools to bring up energy into the body. The spine receives the energy from the lower body, and it flows effortlessly up towards the crown.

“Sound will be the medicine of the future.” — Edgar Cayce

A sound “bath” or harmonic medicine sound session offers a profoundly immersive, whole-body listening experience designed to harness the transformative power of sound. Sound not only enters the body through the ears but is also absorbed by the skin, as the skin is a sensory organ capable of perceiving vibrations. This creates a therapeutic and rejuvenating space where the mind, body, and spirit are harmonized and nurtured using crystal singing bowls, Tibetan sound bowls, and Acutonics® high-frequency planetary tuning forks. The harmonic tones of the crystal bowls resonate with the energy centers (chakras) of the astral body, with lower-pitched sounds connecting to the lower chakras and higher tones lifting awareness to the higher chakras. This creates a sense of connectedness and flow from the feet to the crown.

The warm overtones of the Tibetan bowls complement this process, gently filling energetic spaces where healing is ready to occur, while the high-frequency tuning forks clear and seal the space, anchoring balance and renewal. Allow the sounds to wash over you like water, immersing your body in vibration and frequency.

During the session, Amanda will briefly introduce topics like Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound, which uses external vibrations to connect with the inner sounds of spirit and self.

The Science of Sound and Healing:

At its essence, sound is slowed-down light frequency, and both sound and light are forms of energy. Since the human body is over 70% water—and water is highly responsive to sound vibrations—these frequencies can profoundly impact our physical and energetic systems.

Sound resonance works as a key to unlock healing potential. Even our own voice is a diagnostic tool—when you listen closely to your tone, breath, and vibrations, you can discern your emotional and energetic state.

Research by Dr. Masaru Emoto and Veda Austin reveals the transformative effects of sound on water. Emoto demonstrated that water exposed to harmonious sounds forms intricate, crystalline patterns, while discordant sounds create chaotic forms. These findings suggest that sound can realign and organize the water within our bodies, promoting balance and vitality.

Sound therapy also aligns with the principles of harmonic medicine as described by Emerson, showing how specific frequencies can restore equilibrium to the body and mind.

A Universal and Expansive Invitation:

Sound bypasses the mind’s chatter, offering a bridge to deeper self-awareness and connection with something greater. It’s an opportunity to explore your inner landscape through the universal language of vibration and frequency. In the stillness of sound, the boundaries between self and universe dissolve, leaving you renewed, expansive, and deeply connected.

No prior experience is necessary—just an open heart and the willingness to be present. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, clarity, or a new perspective, the sound bath experience invites you to explore the transformative power of sound and its potential to heal and inspire.

Sound Healing Experience

WhatsApp Image 2024-12-11 at 11.22.03 AM.jpeg

THE EXPERIENCE
A sound “bath” or harmonic medicine sound session offers a profoundly immersive, whole-body listening experience designed to harness the transformative power of sound. Sound not only enters the body through the ears but is also absorbed by the skin, as the skin is a sensory organ capable of perceiving vibrations. This creates a therapeutic and rejuvenating space where the mind, body, and spirit are harmonized and nurtured.

Each session begins with a guided breathing exercise to ground you in the present moment, followed by gentle yoga stretches to awaken the physical body and promote the flow of prana, or life force energy. Once grounded and centered, participants are invited to lie down comfortably with pillows, blankets, or other supports to encourage deep relaxation.

Amanda, your facilitator, incorporates crystal singing bowls, Tibetan sound bowls, and Acutonics® high-frequency planetary tuning forks.

Allow the sounds to wash over you like water, immersing your body in vibration and frequency—this is why it is called a “sound bath.”

During the session, Amanda will briefly introduce topics like Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound, which uses external vibrations to connect with the inner sounds of spirit and self. The session concludes with participants sitting upright to integrate the experience, followed by the offering of a personal message card. You’ll leave feeling deeply relaxed, with an expanded sense of peace, lighter breath, and perhaps even soaring joy.

WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?
A sound bath is a deeply immersive, meditative experience where sound becomes a tool for relaxation, balance, and transformation. Instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, and Acutonics® planetary tuning forks create sound vibrations that envelop the body and mind, inviting a state of expanded awareness and inner stillness.

Sound therapy allows you to simply relax and listen, with no effort required. The vibrations resonate through your energy field and physical body, bringing alignment and balance without physical touch.

This workshop invites you to explore three sequences of sun salutations, followed by the transformative power of twists, forward bends, and grounding floor poses—all designed to rejuvenate your being and awaken the flow of prana, moving you into a meditative state.

We’ll begin by greeting the sun with joyful sun salutations, awakening our inner aspiration. As we transition into twists, we'll gently stimulate the deep spine, moving the kidney energy into the heart and opening our side body so that joy can flow freely.

Finally, we’ll anchor our practice with seated poses, cultivating a stable foundation for meditation, inner stillness, reflection, self-care, and intuitive awareness. To conclude, we’ll unite our energies with three hand mudras, aligning our intentions with the cosmic rhythm, and finish with a meditation, leaving you feeling grounded, expanded, and uplifted.

This workshop is a celebration of the dance between movement and stillness within you—a chance to deepen your practice and connect with the subtle currents of energy that flow through your being. All levels are welcome.

If you are a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, this is also a beautiful opportunity to revisit and refine your skills, explore the use of props, and ensure your students experience an equitable, well-rounded practice. Embracing Heart Strength and Expansion  - 5 CE Contact Hours Yoga Alliance

May 18th, 2024

9am - 2pm PST

Ananda Institute of Living Yoga

23305 Bothell-Everett Hwy,

Bothell, WA, 98021, USA

Certification: 5 CE HOURS with Yoga Alliance

Course Description

Backbends strengthen the heart by charging the kidneys, aiding in breathing with a wider diaphragm, and creating space between the spinal vertebrae. On an energetic level, backbends transition you from the past into the present—the only place where true happiness resides. Backbends also facilitate the opening of three major centers in the body—the pelvis, the heart, and the throat. This workshop will guide you in bringing the energy of the lower three chakras into the heart center.

Alignment in backbends realigns the physical spine with the deep astral spine, cultivating the beauty of the heart alongside the wisdom of the soul. The progressive sequence of asanas in this class aims to bring joy into your life.

Additionally, the class will focus on yoga therapeutics for irregular heartbeat or mitral valve prolapse, often referred to as a "heart murmur" when blood flows back the wrong way into the heart's atrium.

Therefore, the class will conclude with a focus on restorative poses for the heart and diaphragm, including passive Setu Bandha Sarvangasana and Viparita Dandasana.

Throughout the poses, you will learn how to "breathe the diaphragm widely" to enhance breath expansion during restorative poses.

The primary focus of the class remains on backbends to open and strengthen the heart, concluding with a restorative practice specifically tailored for heart health. The class is scheduled from 9 am to 2 pm.

  1. Prana vayu: this vayu governs the breath and is responsible for the intake of air and the flow of energy through the body. It is associated with the chest, lungs, and heart. It is said that when this vayu is balanced, one feels energized, alert and in good health.

  2. Apana vayu: this vayu governs the elimination of waste products from the body, including urine, feces, and menstrual flow. It is associated with the lower abdomen, pelvic region, and urinary and reproductive organs. It is said that when this vayu is balanced, one feels light, cleansed and relaxed.
