Course Description
Step into a sacred 4-hour journey where we'll weave the sun’s radiant energy with the moon’s cooling embrace, harmonizing body, mind, and spirit. This workshop invites you to explore three sequences of sun salutations, followed by the transformative power of twists, forward bends, and grounding floor poses—all designed to rejuvenate your being and awaken the flow of prana, moving you into a meditative state.
We’ll begin by greeting the sun with joyful sun salutations, awakening our inner aspiration. As we transition into twists, we'll gently stimulate the deep spine, moving the kidney energy into the heart and opening our side body so that joy can flow freely.
Next, we’ll flow into forward bends, allowing the breath to guide us inward, surrendering to the nurturing embrace of peace. These poses invite energy to move freely through the Sushumna Nadi, the central channel that connects us to our higher self.
Finally, we’ll anchor our practice with seated poses, cultivating a stable foundation for meditation, inner stillness, reflection, self-care, and intuitive awareness. To conclude, we’ll unite our energies with three hand mudras, aligning our intentions with the cosmic rhythm, and finish with a meditation, leaving you feeling grounded, expanded, and uplifted.
This workshop is a celebration of the dance between movement and stillness within you—a chance to deepen your practice and connect with the subtle currents of energy that flow through your being. All levels are welcome.
If you are a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, this is also a beautiful opportunity to revisit and refine your skills, explore the use of props, and ensure your students experience an equitable, well-rounded practice. Embracing Heart Strength and Expansion - 5 CE Contact Hours Yoga Alliance
May 18th, 2024
9am - 2pm PST
Ananda Institute of Living Yoga
23305 Bothell-Everett Hwy,
Bothell, WA, 98021, USA
Certification: 5 CE HOURS with Yoga Alliance
Course Description
Backbends strengthen the heart by charging the kidneys, aiding in breathing with a wider diaphragm, and creating space between the spinal vertebrae. On an energetic level, backbends transition you from the past into the present—the only place where true happiness resides. Backbends also facilitate the opening of three major centers in the body—the pelvis, the heart, and the throat. This workshop will guide you in bringing the energy of the lower three chakras into the heart center.
Alignment in backbends realigns the physical spine with the deep astral spine, cultivating the beauty of the heart alongside the wisdom of the soul. The progressive sequence of asanas in this class aims to bring joy into your life.
Additionally, the class will focus on yoga therapeutics for irregular heartbeat or mitral valve prolapse, often referred to as a "heart murmur" when blood flows back the wrong way into the heart's atrium.
Therefore, the class will conclude with a focus on restorative poses for the heart and diaphragm, including passive Setu Bandha Sarvangasana and Viparita Dandasana.
Throughout the poses, you will learn how to "breathe the diaphragm widely" to enhance breath expansion during restorative poses.
The primary focus of the class remains on backbends to open and strengthen the heart, concluding with a restorative practice specifically tailored for heart health. The class is scheduled from 9 am to 2 pm.
