What Students Say About Teacher Training
Some experiences leave us with new knowledge. Others leave us changed. My time learning with Amanda was one of those rare experiences that did both. Amanda possesses a remarkable depth of knowledge, but what sets her apart is not simply what she knows, it is who she is. She teaches with a gentleness that invites rather than instructs, a humility that uplifts rather than diminishes, and a wisdom that never seeks recognition.
During our course, we had a conversation about the meaning of the word "guru." Traditionally, a guru is not merely a teacher of techniques or information; a guru is one who helps illuminate the path, who guides others toward a deeper understanding of themselves and of life. Amanda firmly rejected the title for herself, yet the discussion stayed with me because it highlighted something beautiful: the truest teachers are often the ones who never seek to be called teachers at all.
Amanda's presence embodies the qualities that many people spend a lifetime searching for: kindness, authenticity, compassion, patience, integrity, and grace. She creates a space where every student feels seen, supported, and capable. Her teaching is never about performance or perfection. Instead, it is an invitation to return home to oneself.
What I received from this course extended far beyond yoga. Through Amanda's guidance, I was reminded of the beauty of slowing down, of listening deeply, and of inhabiting my body with greater awareness and reverence. She awakened within me a remembrance of the feminine qualities I had missed: the softness that is not weakness, the receptivity that is not passivity, and the quiet strength that arises from being fully present. There is a lightness to Amanda's teaching, yet there is also profound depth. She shares her knowledge generously, but more importantly, she lives it.
When I reflect on this experience, gratitude is the feeling that rises most strongly — gratitude for the wisdom shared, for the safe and nurturing environment she created, and for the opportunity to learn from someone whose authenticity shines so brightly. Some teachers leave us with information. The exceptional ones leave us with remembrance. Amanda is one of those exceptional teachers. Thank you, Amanda, for your humility, your wisdom, your light, and your heart. The gifts you have shared will continue to unfold long after the course itself ended.
I had the opportunity to be taught by the amazing Amanda Lamprecht of the International School of Yoga Studies. She supported my intentions and my capability of becoming a yoga teacher. From well-documented study material to the yoga mats and other props I needed to facilitate this training, all free of charge. Every training session we were taken care of, nourished with a healthy breakfast and a lunch of choice at a nearby restaurant. We were taken for a forest bathing at a local nature reserve that changed my life completely. We were a group of diverse ethnicities, body sizes, professions, sexual orientations and identities, all together and supporting one another as yogis under her leadership. She goes the extra mile by conducting Zoom classes when needed, even after we have graduated, at your own availability — ensuring we grow into independent teachers. A dream teacher of a yogi. Kudos!
I thoroughly enjoyed my training with Amanda Lamprecht at the International School of Yoga Studies. The classes were filled with a beautiful balance of profound knowledge and thorough demonstration, with several opportunities to receive regular instructing practice and feedback in a clear manner, accompanied by loving support and plenty of joy. The manual created and provided to us by Amanda is of an impeccable standard yet simultaneously easy to understand — it served as a valuable learning tool during the course, and I am certain I will continue to refer to it for many years to come! I am so grateful to have trained with Amanda, whose course has equipped me and my wonderful classmates with high-quality skills, knowledge and confidence that will help us be the best yoga teachers we can be — in professional, yet equally kind and nurturing, ways.
The training was truly wonderful. Beyond learning yoga poses, we explored the broader history and lineage of yoga, including the teachings of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. The in-depth explanations of each pose gave me the confidence to teach in a way that is both safe and mindful. It was an enriching experience that deepened not only my practice, but also my understanding of yoga as a whole.
Amanda is a warm, friendly, and highly professional yoga teacher who truly cares about her students. Her nurturing and protective approach creates a safe, welcoming space where everyone feels supported. She goes above and beyond to cater to individual needs, offering thoughtful guidance, encouragement, and practical advice that extends beyond the mat. Her generosity and willingness to assist — whether through sharing resources to take home or even helping with transportation when needed — make her stand out as a deeply committed and compassionate instructor. An all-around exceptional experience. I would highly recommend the International School of Yoga Studies, as it is one of the best in the world! This is a dream come true for me; I'm now a qualified yogi because of this amazing opportunity that I was granted.
Amanda was an exceptionally attentive and supportive teacher who brought both depth and clarity to her training. Her hands-on approach and detailed feedback allowed me to develop a strong, embodied understanding of the practice, particularly in terms of alignment and safe execution of poses. She taught all aspects of yoga in a well-rounded and integrated way, including physical alignment, breathwork, awareness, and the underlying principles of the practice. This holistic approach helped me gain both practical skills and a deeper understanding of yoga as a whole. She created a learning environment that was both encouraging and structured, ensuring that each student received individualized guidance and clear direction for improvement. Her ability to balance precision with encouragement is one of her greatest strengths. I completed the course feeling confident in my foundation and well-prepared to continue developing as a practitioner and teacher. I would highly recommend the International School of Yoga Studies to anyone seeking a thorough and supportive yoga education.
I had the most incredible 'self-growth' journey while studying at this school. Everything from presentations, study materials, punctuality and communications went above and beyond my expectations. Every effort was made to hold us in the space, making sure I understood all the theory, and much attention was also given to practising and developing all eight limbs of yoga — not only on a teaching level but on a personal level too. Amanda, our teacher, went out of her way to make sure I surpassed my own personal expectations. Ethics, integrity and respect are the cornerstone of this school.
I am deeply grateful for my experience with the International School of Yoga Studies. This Yoga Alliance 200-hour teacher training offered far more than a qualification — it was a truly transformative journey. In just six weeks, we moved through an immersive and deeply enriching process, meeting all the requirements with dedication, discipline, and heart. What stood out most was the integrity of the teaching — rooted in a profound respect for lineage and a sincere embodiment of Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. We leave this training prepared to share a wide and meaningful scope of yoga with our communities, including pranayama, meditation, Hatha Yoga, alignment-based yoga, vinyasa yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, and Nada Yoga. The guidance throughout was offered with deep expertise, presence, and heart, creating a space that was both safe and expansive — one that honoured tradition while supporting each individual's journey. I leave this experience not only more knowledgeable, but more aligned: with myself, with the practice, and with the deeper path of yoga.
I was fortunate enough to recently participate in Amanda's comprehensive 200 hour yoga teacher training course in Gqeberha, and it certainly was next level! I've participated in numerous trainings over the decades, and I can honestly say that this training stood out as having an exceptionally high international standard.
Amanda is not only highly competent, erudite and experienced in the ancient science and spiritual art of yoga and all that pertains to this vast field; she is also compassionate, leading from her heart and embodies the life of a true yogini, something one rarely witnesses.
At the age of 64, and with various physical limitations, you didn't turn me away and tell me I was too old to consider a career change, and that in itself was so validating. Now, after the training, I feel so enriched, empowered and excited to start concretising the dreams of my golden years!
I recently completed my 200hour yoga teacher training through the International School of yoga studies with Amanda and it was truly life changing. Amanda has a wealth of knowledge and experience which she shares so generously, going out of her way to ensure that each student feels supported every step of the way. Amanda is kind, compassionate, fun and professional and a true light on the path. Her enthusiasm for life is infectious.
Amanda's yoga teaching style is empowering. When she returned to SA and taught at the International School of Yoga Studies, I packed up my car and my almost 11-year-old furry boy, and we traveled from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape to continue learning from her. During training, I suffered an injury from a hike, spraining my ankle, knee, and shoulder. But Amanda's guidance and support helped me persevere. What impresses me most about Amanda is her selflessness and dedication - she gives 100% to her students.
Amanda is truly the most incredible human being I have had the privilege of crossing paths with. Doing the yoga teacher training with her was an absolutely life changing experience! We learnt SO much and I am so incredibly grateful to have been a part of this journey with her. I couldn't recommend Amanda enough; she is a plethora of knowledge and just being in her presence is truly life enriching. She is the best of the best and anyone would be so lucky to learn from and work with her.
Over the past 8 weeks, I've had the privilege of learning from one of the most inspiring yoga teachers I've ever encountered. Her ability to create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment helped each of us grow not only as future yoga teachers but also as individuals. She truly understood the balance between technique and soul, ensuring that our experience was not just about learning postures, but about embracing the essence of yoga.
I recently completed the 200-Hour Yoga Teachers Training Program at the International School of Yoga Studies facilitated by Amanda Lamprecht in South Africa. It was truly transformative. The Course was well-structured with clear objectives, organised content and effective delivery. With a very knowledgeable and supportive Instructor, the intense training guided me to deepen my understanding of Yoga and gain confidence in my teaching abilities.
I would like to give the International school of yoga Studies a 5 star rating. The dedication and effort put in by Amanda to provide a course that was so well rounded and inspiring is truly amazing. She absolutely embodies what yoga is all about! I feel that I received fantastic tutoring in all aspects of our teacher training program above and beyond what was expected.
I recently had the privilege of completing the 200-hour YTT program with Amanda Lamprecht, and I must say, it was a truly transformative experience. Amanda has a gift for teaching yoga that goes beyond the physical practice. She created a safe and supportive environment that allowed us to challenge ourselves and grow. I am forever grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to make her proud.
The venues were exceptional and the food divine and above all the yoga teacher made yoga accessible to everyone and it was an outrageous experience. I didn't know what to expect doing the 200 hour yoga teachers course but the balance of yoga and time out was just perfect. I came away feeling very calm, enlightened, relaxed and new.
Amazing training, I feel blessed to have studied with ISOYS! Amanda is extremely rich in experience & knowledge, and full of heart. She went out of her way to accommodate everyone, sharing way more than any of us expected for a 200hour. Despite covering so much, the course was beautifully paced, so it never felt overwhelming. The community engagement was wonderful. And all the extras made it a delightful & enriching journey. Infinitely thankful.
Workshop Reviews
Amanda has acute knowledge and understanding of the physiology of Shirshasana and Sarvangasana. Because of this her guidance for warm up poses and preliminary preparation for each pose offers a safe and effective foundation for moving into the pose. No matter the level of your students they will benefit using her instructions. She makes each pose accessible to all.
Outstanding course. Amanda is a gifted teacher. She is able to choose words and demonstrate the asanas in a way that everyone can have a deep experience. She knows yoga from the inside-out and is able to guide students to do the same. She is very professional and very fun-natured so the course is both deep and delightful.
